New Year Resolutions

Happy New Year Mindful Readers,

If you are like most people, today you are thinking about your resolutions.   According to Oxford dictionary, a resolution means a firm decision to do or not to do something.  Although in theory, this sounds like a good thing to do, it goes against many mindfulness attributes such as non-judging and non-striving which could result in feelings of failure or shame if the goal is not met.

If you don’t mind, I’d like to introduce you to a different concept this year and that is one of manifestation.  Manifestation is derived from the Latin word manifestare and means to discover or to disclose.   A friend of mine introduced me to it some years ago and I understood it as a way to tap into a deeper sense of what it would feel like to be in a place that you wish to be if a goal was achieved.  For example, instead of thinking I want a new job or new house or relationship, you focus instead on what will come from gaining that.  Are you seeking a sense of comfort, safety, security, belonging, accomplishment, good mental or physical health?

Scientifically speaking, manifestation is built on the universal Law of Resonance which states that everything is in a constant state of movement or vibration of frequencies.  When a vibration is projected, it will attract the energy of the frequency.  Think of yourself as tuning fork.  If you trust in this, the universe will provide you with what you need when you need it.

So whatever you are hoping to achieve in 2024, put that energy out into the universe.  For me, one of my intentions is to slow down so that I can enjoy the simple, joyful moments of life with my family and friends.  What I am manifesting this year is a feeling of peace in my mental and physical being.

What will you be manifesting this year?  Would love to hear your thoughts.

Namaste,

Mindful Road Warrior
